Thank You For Your Support

At the beginning of January I announced my decision not to seek reelection in 2010 and I am overwhelmed by the amount of support and understanding that has come from my colleagues and constituents. My decision was not easy because I thoroughly enjoy representing such a wonderful district and serving the great citizens of South Carolina. However, after much thought, I believe this is the right time for me to retire, and I am looking forward to spending more time at my family farm and enjoying life without the extensive travel demands that are so much a part of public service today. I wanted to share with everyone an article in the Post and Courier, where I spoke with the newspaper about my reasons and plans for retirement. The interview took place on my farm in Cordesville and I believe the article really captures my passion for the outdoors and provides readers with a glimpse of my life outside of Congress.  The Post and Courier: Down on the Farm: 'Republican Workhorse' discusses reasons, plans for retirement
